The Strand holder is most probably the best thing that has ever been invented since sliced bread, or the Scotch Tension on modern day spinning wheels. These are hand made in America.
It will hold your spun thread to prevent it from unraveling while you stop for a quick answer the phone call or to get more fiber to finish spinning. I know, experienced spinners are used to wrapping the strand around a knob somewhere on the wheel. But we also know that it does not always stay wrapped. Once an experienced spinner tries out this, they are hooked on it forever. Wheels should have been made with this in the beginning.
It is able to be tied onto any type of wheel. Tie it onto your wheel, so that it will not fall off in transport.
It holds both the thick yarn and the thin like Alpaca or Silk. You will wonder how you ever got along without it.
To use it when you are going to transport your wheel, you need to wrap the strand around the top where you tied the holder to the wheel, then down into the slice, back up to the top, wrap around it again and down into the slice. Maybe even a third wrap around would help. Play with my method or your own, you will work it out. I find that it holds the spun strand just fine during transport of your wheel without coming out.
These would make a wonderful inexpensive gift. Let me know if it needs gift wrapping and a note.
The ability to pay by Credit Card has been added to the Fees page. This will be very helpful for out of USA sales. It figures in the exchange rate and no extra costs for Postal Money orders and checks that are made out in USA funds, which cost you extra.
